I have lots of HDTV episodes downloaded from the internet and want to convert them for my ipod
I have been using QT pro export option and it works fine, but widescrren HDTV video, is not 4x3 and it gets letterboxed.

I would prefer to crop the widescreen edges and have the middle picture not be shurken quite as much.

Does anyone have any suggesttion for how to do this using QT pro or something else free?

I tried the options in QT and it doesn't seem like it supports a cropping function.

dont do it in video. on your ipod go to main menu/video/video settings/widescreen.
set this to "off" and it will crop the edges and show the video fullscreen. turn it back on to view the videos in their saved format. enjoy.

Yes, that's correct. The funny thing is that I've read several reviews that stated that turning the "widescreen" option off doesn't crop the video, but rather stretches it to fill the screen. But I just tested it with a couple of my own files and it's definitely cropping.
