So I recently signed up to get more info on the Macworld Conference & Expo that is taking place this January in San Fran. I am a college student and I currently attend a very pricy university. Needless to say, money is tight. Despite my financial woes, I still really want to fly out to Cali for the conference (I live on the East Coast). I've crunched the numbers and it would cost me and my girl friend about $1,200 for a Monday arrival and Friday departure with hotel and conference fees.

Now those conference fees include the Users Conference because I really want to see the keynote (Which is being given by Steve Jobs??? Not Sure? Anyone know?). But that is another big cost hike, and I am not sure if it is worth it. I know seating is a first come first serve basis.

My question for the MacNN forumers is if the whole thing is worth it? Should I try to do the Keynote, or not? How many seats will be available for the Keynote? Is Steve Jobs giving the keynote? Is the conference really worth all the trouble and money?

Thanks for all your thoughts and input!

The keynote is definitely the major reason to go, but even if you only get a regular show pass it's still worth it to see all the products, use hardware and software you would never have the chance to use otherwise, talk to third party company officials as well as fellow Mac-heads and to soak in the glory that is Macworld. I recommend it highly. If I had the disposable income, I would do it every year.

Just download the keynote in Quicktime right after it's finished if money is tight.

So those that have been to a keynote think that the Quicktime posts are the same? I am not terribly worried about the money, I just don't want to pay and not be able to get a seat!

Ok, so my connection was being silly, and I posted the same thing 10 times! Excellent! If only I could delete my mistakes.

But I have another question, how early do people get lined up for the keynote? From what I've read, I've heard as early as 5PM the day before, to 4 AM the day of. I was thinking 2:30AM as a good bet.
