I'm looking for an app to write, compile, and run java programs. Any ideas?

I think you could use Apple's Xcode tools by registering on the ADC site.

http://www.connect.apple.com

It's a big download but it's free.

I vote for XCode too. It supports UML now so you can visualize your classes and it's free.
