ok, i purchased iLife 06 this afternoon and i've been playing with all the updated applications. iPhoto is 400% faster and the changes to iMovie and iDVD are awesome!!!!!

Most of all, i've been looking forward to iWeb. I've played around with it for about an hour. It's amazing. The professional looking templates are great and adding photo's and text are super easy. I can't wait to build some sites.

HOWEVER, it's buggy. when i open the media box, the computer starts to hang. clicking and moving around the program freezes up my system. I've had to force quit out 10 times in 20 minutes...i'm not kidding around.

but when it's not freezing up my computer, i'm really enjoying it!

I published a site, very easy to do, but when i went back in to edit it....it's halted my system

So you know, i have no problems with other programs. System is rock solid.
just this one program. reminds me of Pages when it first came out. slow and buggy.

anyone else have experience with this program.

did any of you ever try rapid weaver ?? ya cant edit jack all you can do is fill in the blanks..boring..

Question Reggie,, is iweb like pages, in that you can move stuff around freely like the text boxes and all of the stuff? I saw the keynote and my jaw fell off at the fact that someone might have finally built a wysiwyg that just works...

As pages was always perfect for webdesign except for it AWFUL html export

iWeb does look like a slick app though.

Typical for a 1.0 Apple release.

iWeb looks pretty cool; however, I have my own web site/domain NOT provided by .Mac. I don't use .Mac and don't intend on using it any time soon. Anyone know if I publish a iWeb-created page to, say, a folder to be used on a non-.Mac site?

Yes. You can save the work, etc to a Folder.

Just upload that folder (or contents to /public_html) to any web server and you are good to go.

I am really curious to see the code that gets spit out. Will be interesting with all the on-the-fly adjustments.

No Apple store here. Maybe CompUSA tomorrow…

I haven't used iWeb yet. Planning to buy iLife '06 as soon as it is in stock at my university bookstore. Anyway, I was playing with the Sandvox public beta for a while, and it's very well done. Really easy to make a good looking website with the built in templates. I'm interested in comparing iWeb and Sandvox.

I have been hoping for an Apple web authoring suite for years. Hopefully iWeb will be followed by Web Designer Pro in short order. Apple could do some terrific things if the right resources were invested into such an application.

That's correct, you don't need a .Mac account to publish using iWeb.

Again, i'm really upset that it's such a flaky program. It's potential is unlimited. I envision every mac user having a kickbutt webpage. but this program is begging to crash. so sad.
