Microsoft Messanger

Just because they're free doesn't mean you should list them in the top 100. They're shite. I'd get rid of 'em.

When I get some others I will prune them down a bit, any suggestions?

You mentioned Adium yourself. What do you need MSN and Yahoo Messenger for then?

I have Adium, but I prefer using Microsoft Messenger, its just personal choice.
This list is designed for newbies to quickly find all the software they need for free, if they want to use the official client (which works very well) I don't see why they can't.
