Hi,
I'm new to my MacBook Pro and I would like to know what kind of Video Player I should be using.
I watch a lot of divx format videos and most of them are animes with captions(.smi file extensions).
Which video player should I use to utilize my MacBookPro frontrow capabilities (with great number of codecs in it)? I like to use frontrow incorporated with my 26inch lcd tv.
BTW
Frontrow seems to be using my quicktime player, which doesn't support captions or full stretch screen or divx codecs.
I currently Use the mplayer to watch divx videos, but it does not seem to work with .smi file extenstions and "it does not work with the frontrow" which is a big minus.
Any advice will help THX!

FrontRow uses QuickTime for movie playback, yes. That's just how it is, you'll have to get the files to work in QuickTime or deal with not using it. VLC is the best media player but it isn't FrontRow.

I suggest you stay with QuickTime Player, since its the only one to work with FrontRow.
Just install DivX 6, to enable DivX playback...

Thx for the great advice.
I just installed the divx 6 for my quicktime player OS X. The Divx files now plays back, but they don't have any sounds.... But I get sound and video using VLC player.
Am I missing something? How do I get the quicktime to play the videos with sounds??

The videos might have AC3 sound, in which case you'll need another QuickTime plugin (search around, I know there is one).
You might be able to figure out what kind of sound the files have if you open the file in QuickTime Player or VLC and Get Info (Command I in either app).
