I wondered if someone was using another remote than the original Apple one to control his/her iMac G5 (iSight)?
I have a Sony RM-AV3000T programmable remote, the only problem is to find the corresponding "code" for the iMac. Can anyone help me?

If there is a thread already discussing this, please tell me as I couldn't find any.

I use a Phillips Pronto TSU3000, and it works fine. I didnt look for any codes, I just used the 'teaching eye' built into the pronto to make it learn the correct commands to work the iMac.

I didn't think of the learning function
Are you able to control more than the few Front Row functions, for example VLC?
Or is the IR receiver only "on" when Front Row is activated? Has anyone tried using the IR receiver for other purposes yet?

The remote will control front row, and when FR is not activated, the remote will control system volume, and quicktime, itunes and dvd player. It will also control keynote presentations, and maybe a few other things
