If I run in openGL it gets super choppy. I have to switch to Software to get it to run with out being glitchy. Any ideas why? I'm thinking it's my processor.

Stats:

G4 400mhz
768mb pc133
Radeon 9200 128mb

This happens to me on my G4 1.25ghz with the same amount of ram and the same vid card. So I think it might be that d2 just doesn't run well on any mac with openGL. I've also asked different people with different systems and they seem to have the same problems

I never had that problem with a 1.2 p4 and a 16 mb ati card with 768mb. Then again, it was using DirectX. There shouldn't be a problem with this. I was think it could be the speed of my processor.

I haven't played D2 in ages, but I seem to remember having OpenGL problems too on whatever computer I was using then. Maybe that is the deal.

I could live with the software rendering if only it wouldn't screw up the chat feature. My screen is shifted to the left, which cuts of a part of bnet.

Rumor: Have you tried playing D2 in window mode? Maybe that will give you the screen space you need for chat.

Is that Radeon 9200 a PCI card or a flashed AGP card? If it's PCI, that might explain some of the stuttering with OpenGL. But even with an AGP card in that system, OpenGL would be choppy. Just a bit less.

The screen shifting to the left sounds like a resolution/refreshrate issue. You need to use your monitor's settings to adjust the screen (assuming you're using a CRT).

Yeah, the screen shifting definitely sounds easily fixable. My display actually has a button that automatically recenters the screen.

I installed LOD yesterday and noticed that when I switch from 640x480 to 800x600 the screen thing happened. This makes me think the chat app is 800x600 and the game (non-LOD) is 640x480. I'll check into a screen alignment setting on my monitor.

It's almost unplayable in windowed mode.

Yeah, 3D mode hasn't worked right for a while. I think the first OS X update after OGL was fixed broke it again.
