Power logix 1.6 ghz L2 for $239
OWC mercury extreme 1.4 ghz L3 for $259
which is faster? better buy?
I know the OWC is a simple plug and play so I'm leaning towards that one

Get the 1.4 w/L3 cache, it makes a big difference. The 1.4 7455 is the equivalent of a 1.8 7447.

I agree with the 7455. It's what I have in my original 450. I understood that FastMac was suppling OWC with the 7455s, so I got one from FastMac. Works great. No additional software needed.

The speed will vary with the task. iirc for example Virtual PC loves having a larger cache, while something like FCP is probably less likely to care.
