...riding the bus to the parking lot to my truck when a large, black dog decides to run across a 4 lane main street. Didn't make it past the 2nd lane. A black SUV creams it after several "Oh... OH! NOOO!" screaming in the bus. There were cops at the intersections because the roads were blocked off for the festival. The person in the SUV floored it and tried to drive away (a felony hit and run) but found out that he or she wasn't getting too far with the dog STILL under the SUV (big dog.) Dragged along the street for about 30 meters before some cops on foot were chasing the sh*t head down and directed him or her to pull over.

The bus driver was apologizing over and over for what happened (not like she could do anything about it) and we left for the parking lot.

Anyway, the gyros and Greek fried potatoes are awesome.

Hitting a dog that ran in front of your car on a 4-lane highway and driving off is a felony hit-and-run? Are you supposed to stop traffic, call 911, and perform CPR?

Where is it a hit and run felony to hit a dog? That is absolutely ridiculous.

olePigeon, if you ever get a chance to read anything about the art & science or philosophy of headline writing I suggest giving it a few minutes of your time!

Just a friendly note.

Wait a minute, there's just one thing I don't understand.

Do you have to pay to get into the Greek Festival?

It's a hit and run if you cause an accident of any kind and fail to stop and wait for the police.

Ole, where is this Greek Festival? It's been a long time, so I don't know when the one in Detroit runs... I miss those!

(Bad website warning)

The Greek Festival is in San Jose. It's free if you print out some tickets from their website, otherwise it's $8.00 for walkin. The food's incredible.

It's not, I worded it wrong. It's a felony to leave the scene of an accident when cops are chasing after you while dragging a dead animal beneath your car. Or something.

Ummm... ...the SUV driver didn't actually cause the accident.

I say book the dog with felony hit and run, since it tried to escape by clinging onto the underside of the SUV (like inmates do with buses during prison breaks).
Been inclined to wander... off the beaten track.
That's where there's thunder... and the wind shouts back.

Doesn't that depend on the kind of animal ?

Do I have to report a flattened squirrel, or insects ?

I don't think squirrels count as property. Now pet tarantulas may be, but check the tags. I think you may be safe with H&r on a cody dawg.

Find the dogs owner if it has one, and let your insurance pester them about paying for the damages

That's what I'd do. Yep.

Oh, okay...whew.

Great story, Gordie!
Please keep in mind the ambiguously selective general understandings we've all agreed upon...
