Hey whats up?
I am looking for a HD Dvd Recorder, nothing with Tivo in it, is just going to be used for the occasional recording of a movie/game edit out commercial and archive on DVD.
Just basic on screen program guide is required!

I am trying to find a place to find more info!
As I understand all units with basic Tivo are unable to edit videos, which are therefore out of question.
Also I heard that most units have trouble working with digital cable i.e. the on screen program guide...
Others are a pain in the but when it comes to editing...
well as I am hesitant spender and keep my stuff for a long long time...I am trying to get more information so Ill find a unit which will still make me happy in year 2011!
Aight peace out!

Not coming until the end of the year, and they sound expensive.

I'd just be happy with an HD Tivo myself.

Oh, ok. In that case, there are several options available from many companies.

I have a PVR, and I have a separate DVD recorder, not a combo unit. I like this setup because most hard drive DVD recorders can be thought of as glorified VCRs, in that in general they don't deal with programming as nicely as PVRs.

However, if you want the basic editing features and really don't need good TV programming support, it sounds like you've picked the right product for your needs.
