I hope you are someone's 2nd account for trolling.

If not, you're a nutcase.

And this is coming from someone that doesn't watch Football.

Through out the World, Soccer is correctly known as Football, even the term soccer has been dropped here in Australia and it is now referred to as Football.

Now we also have Australian Rules Football, and yes the ball is kicked with the Foot.

But this is what i don't get - American Football. Other than the punter, no other player kicks or touches the ball with their feet so how the hell does it get the Term - FOOTBALL
if you can't be part of the solution don't be part of the problem!!!!

Depends a lot on whom you talk to. Lots of Australians would call football soccer. Many others would call it football.

And just in case some don’t know, those who call it soccer ultimately also call it football. ‘Soccer’ is just an abbreviation of ‘Associated Football’, with an extra ‘-er’ slapped on to the end, nothing more.

I agree. One of the most annoying parts of watching soccer is the acting. Someone will barely get touched and they will flop around on the ground for a couple minutes. It makes it not fun to watch.

Football on the other hand, you have hard hitting tackling and amazing plays. There is nothing like watching a running back make the defender stand still has he blows by him. There is so much variety.

Rugby is ok but the players just don't seem to be athletic overall as football players. Football has 300 pound players that can run 40 yards in under 5 seconds. Lineman and guards could destroy rugby players. And thats why they wear pads.

Soccer = running around a huge field. Scoring, a rarity. There is strategy and everything in the sport, but saying Football doesn't have any is pure ignorance.

American Football is one of the most strategic games in the world. We take breaks in between plays, and find what didn't work, and what will work. The team works as one, every person has a vital role in every play. From blocking the QB, to a guard pulling and blocking a linebacker and a reciever on a rub route.

I play high school football, and to say American football has no meaning or strategy shows how dumb you really are.

You guys keep saying players use so much pads, but in the pros, its honestly just a helmet and shoulder pads. That is SOO MUCH padding.

Europeans these days are so much more feminine, they are truely a disgrace to all of man kind. Shows the US is the last country with real men in it.

DON'T get me started on gender phobia. Maybe what men need to be civilized is more sensitivity. You know, it's quite a disgusting double standard when it's OK for women to be butch or "one of the guys" and repulsive for men to be effeminate. Frankly, gender diversity is a blessing, NOT a disgrace! And, while we're on the subject, wonder where all the homophobic male pigs are coming from? Just watch Spike TV and "The Man Show"

After they learn the game, which would take an hour or so, they would dominate due to their superior size, speed, and athletic ability. Within 10 minutes, the Rugby players would be carted off the field, all of them. Am. Football players wear that gear for a reason; they run twice as fast, are twice as strong, and hit more than twice as hard.

It seems hatred of another sports comes out of ignorance of it. Our personal likes and dislikes are subjective. There's no inherent standard to compare to, so we can't call one or the other 'better.'

I'm from America, so of course I've been exposed to (american) football more. I also go to a Division 1 (largest) college, so our team is very important to the college, and our games are broadcast on TV. I think it's enjoyable to show up a few hours before the game, fire up the grill and hang out with friends beforehand. Some people actually show up the night before with RV's and camp out before every home game.

Sure, having to deal with TV timeouts is annoying, but with friends there, you don't really notice. There are upsides and downsides to each sport, and it really comes down to what you like. And you don't have to hate one to like the other.

Anyone making rash generalizations about an entire culture is making his/her ignorance quite obvious. And I don't know anyone on this board that would be proud to 'be in good company' with Monique... It just means you're being rash, ignoring facts pointed out by many (cool-headed, unlike you) reasonable members of the forums, and generally proudly flaunting your lack of sense and reason.

This thread deserves this picture:

Have you ever even watched Spike TV, or are you basing this assumption on what you've heard about it?? Let's look at their lineup for today: World's Wildest Police Videos, 5 hours of Star Trek (talk about beer drinkin male chauvinist pig stereotypical shows!!!), some more WWPV, a couple hours of CSI, and a Bond movie. I don't see how this promotes what you're saying. I only seen a couple segments from The Man Show, and I can see how that could correlate, but you're still an idiot.

Oh! I've watched Spike because they've got two franchises of Star Trek--Next Gen and Deep Space Nine. Those are the ONLY reasons I'd watch Spike. Outside of that, the station is completely useless. Also, it's quite disgusting havng to deal with the macho propoganda/the "Mannism" little snippets (i.e "Pink is not in for men")/Bob with his overactive weenie and he needs his "Male Enhancement Pill" commercial breaks while I'm trying to watch Star Trek. Not to mention the sexist plugs for Casino Cinema and that dingy bimbo who hasn't the self-respect to tell that Casino Cinema guy or the Spike network to shove off and get some other gimmick for the show.

OK, you're talking about double standards, but it's not OK for men to drink beer and watch a show satirize our gender, but Vagina Monologues is OK? Why the hell is it wrong for a man to be a stereotypical man? I haven't heard you yelling about how all women are shopoholic flakes (See, I can use stereotypes too!).

You're not better than me. You have no right to tell me how to live, or make me feel bad about enjoying The Man Show. If you take The Man Show seriously, you have something seriously wrong with you. It's a satire piece, no more, no less, about how ridiculous the "Macho" stereotype is.

I made this point once, and I'm going to make it again, Men are not out to get you. Men don't want to tell you what to do. We just want you to stop telling us what to do. Lighten up and quit being a chauvinistic *****. Please, you're hurting your gender in my eyes more than anything Spike TV could do.

Everyone loves American football: straight male 'pigs' love it because its awesome.

Their wives love it because they can keep an eye on their husband during the game.

Gay men love it because the football locker room is a source for endless fantasies.

Lesbians love it because they all dream of becoming the next Jerome "The Bus" Bettis.

Perhaps aesthetes dislike it but that's their problem.

On that note, to show I am not citing a double standard, I am also agitated that women are sex-obsessed as well with their commercials and programming as well. What happened to society in the last 15 years that we are now seeing ads for condoms, sex-enhancement drug, "manage your period," as well as 900 sex lines on prime time TV or even mainstream magazines (instead of leaving those ads to the "under the counter" magazines that you had to be 21 to buy)? I come from a generation where sex was a PRIVATE matter--you learned about "birds and bees" from your parents, not school and sex was only with your spouse when you get married. How did we come from leaving sex as a private and personal matter into bringing it out so openly in public?

When I was in high school, I was about 6'2", 220#. Fast and pretty lean. I was in a hotel on a baseball trip when the Denver Broncos came in. I was in awe of how big most of those men were.

Seriously, if you got hit by a 250 pound man who can run a 40 yard dash in 4.4 seconds, you'd want pads, too. And vice versa, you couldn't hit someone as hard if you are not wearing shoulder pads.

It's not rare in American football to see a player who is 6'6" 300#. But these guys aren't fat, they are just very, very strong and usually quick and fast.

I've seen on TV a player, Larry Allen, an offensive lineman for the Cowboys, who is 6'3" 325# (probably more like 350#) where the goal was to see how many times a player could bench press 225# (~102 kg). Allen got on the bench and did over 50 repetitions. Without stopping. It was amazing.

We're used to watching the game from above on TV. But I've been on the sidelines for I-AA football games (that's one level below major college) and the game goes MUCH faster than you think it does when you see it on TV.

From what I've heard, seeing an NFL game up close and personal is almost scary. There are collisions that would permanently injure someone if they weren't wearing protective gear. It is a very violent, yet very graceful game.

I love football. The worst part of summer is not being able to watch it!

I saw a neck broken in a ruck while playing a rugby match age 15, will never forget the sound.
Normally when a leg or arm get broken you hear a torrent of screaming and swearing and fists full of soil, but with the neck it was all silent.

He died in hospital.

Ever tried to throw a pass 25 yards down the field to a specific spot just trusting that your reciever is going to be there on time (a timing route)?
Reciever? Case closed. Football is for stupid ****s who like to abuse women and drive trucks and have sex with their sisters.

How about trying to cover a guy who runs a 4.3 40 yard dash?
Big freakin' deal. The only reason he's goign that fast is because he's imaging the cops are after him for assault and rape charges.

I don't see where football as a sport portrays women as sluts, whores etc.
I'm sorry for your visual disability.

I have. Christ. They need to do football like speed chess, and without pads. Then it might be interesting.

What bridge did you escape from under?

I just want to ask you if you've even played competitive american football ever? You're probably bitter that a football player took your girlfriend.

Nope. I had a pretty hot gf in HS. I played soccer. Football was for the people who were struggling with degenerate math classes. They also were generally larger guys who couldn't spell. Today, under 10 years after graduation, almost every football player from my high school's team is now fat, lives in the same town, lacks a degree, and does some mundane job. Most soccer players were in calculus or at the very least 1 year advanced math, left town, got a degree, and are pursuing their careers. Coincidence? I think not.

There is a very good reason why the stereotypical football jock is a total ****ing moron.

Normally when a leg or arm get broken you hear a torrent of screaming and swearing and fists full of soil, but with the neck it was all silent.

He died in hospital.
Dude, that seriously sucks.

Have you ever seen a professional football playbook? I seriously doubt you could muster the brain to figure it out. You probably couldn't memorize the playbook in Super Tecmo Bowl circa 1992.

And being a fatass has nothing to do with it. Unless you want that 330 pound lineman running around you. See, they aren't just big, they are FAST too.

I bet you would fall on your ass before you could even lay a hand on someone like Michael Strahan (who, by the way, grew up in Germany and chose to come back to the US (his dad was military) to go to college. He hadn't played football since he was a kid, but he'd played soccer. He chose football.

Um, what's wrong with the word receiver - or are you making a crack that I accidentally spelled it wrong?

I watch football. I'm not stupid. I've never laid a hand on my wife in anger. I haven't laid a hand on my sister in passion. I do, however, drive a truck. 1991 Ford Ranger. Not exactly a macho vehicle.

Or he could just be a gifted athlete who works his ass off, does charity work and is generally a nice guy.

But that wouldn't fit into your concept, so ignore it.

Sure did. Football stops every 5-10 seconds for a commercial break, hence big money. I'm POSITIVE the salary was MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH higher playing professional football....

Well, since he chose it WAY before he was a pro or before he got a scholarship, does that make a difference?

He went to Texas Southern University for the love of the game.

Um, yeah, and by the way, I've watched the World Cup the last week or so (and enjoyed it.) They might not stop for ads, but the NFL doesn't have boards running around the field with ads all over them.

And then in league play, it's soccer that has ads plastered ON the players. There are no phone company logos on football uniforms.

The lack of "68" in your name made me not realize who you are. The guy who thinks it's ok to drive 100 miles per hour in a 35 zone thinks football players are stupid... hmmm.

The speed limit is irrelevant to the context of the situation. If a deserted airport runway had a speed limit of 5mph and you went 120, would it still be stupid? Especially if there was nobody around and there was no way anybody could get hurt? Thought so. Nice attempt at spinning something though. Maybe you should work for Micheal Moore.

OK, so the speeding argument wasn't that great of an example?

How about the guy who gets banned 100 times but can't learn a lesson? Better.

Still you have yet to refute my arguments, you just keep saying the same myths over and over.

Those pics aren't of cheerleaders, but of actual fans (except for the one scary-looking one with the microphone).

Yes, Germany is currently FULL of scenes like that.

Ahahahaha, God you must be one bitter son of a gun. Lets see... Our fullback scored a 33 on the ACT and went onto the Naval Academy under academic merit as a nuclear physisist, our receivers (including tight end) all went on to universities under academic merit. Quarterback ended up going to a local university. Soccer starting line? Short of one, they're all working fast food in my home town. Now please stop stereotyping before you hurt yourself.
