Now, I'm not one to go looking for racism when there isn't any present... ...but that looks slightly iffy to me.

Where's the racism? I see contrast in the fact that the current PSP is black, and the new one coming out is white. People are way too sensitive these days, indeed.

It would be kind of like Apple making an ad that showed how much cooler and sleek the black iBook is. It's the new kid on the block, so it's going to try and take over. So it is with the PSP.

the two chicks are cool with me. They are of an even standing as people ie. both the same gender, size, attractiveness

Hmm, after looking carefully, I'd say the black person in the first image is the same girl as in the other two ads. It looks like a man, agreed, but is most certainly not. Just the lighting, I guess.

And I don't think that's very racist, no. Shocking? A bit. But not quite racist in my book. It isn't implying that the white PSP is better in any way than the black, just that it's different.

Oh, and it's a dumb campaign.

Seriously, the first thing that popped into my mind was not so much racism, but the whole dominant/submissive relationships some folks have.

Now, OP's image w/o the context of the other images from the same campaign (where we see some reversal of OP's image) could definately be construed as racist.

I don't think it's racist, but in any case, it is definately a bad idea. Anything that could be constured as racist is not a good idea in any ad campaign. Today's society likes to sensationalize, and racism is easy to do that with.. why sacrifice sales to feed that need to blow things out of proportion? Like I said, bad idea.
