Anyone figure out a way to have the program rebuild the library (search your hard drives and catalogue every mp3 it finds, as it did on the install)? It seems that one has to add each new set of tunes individually and remove each catalogued song that you've deleted by hand.

I can't find a command (or any info under Help) to allow me to do this. Anyone have any ideas on how to force it to do this, apart from reinstalling the program?

Um... round about way, but delete prefs and make it think its never been run before?
Dunno if that'll work... give it a try if you want. If it doesn't just put the old pref file back.

File -> Add to Library

Select the folder or drive you want to start searching from. iTunes checks all of the sub-directories looking for files to add.

Add to library is the best option but if you did want to delete the prefs to start over it works fine. I did it.
