Hi all,

I just bought a new macbook (2Ghz, 512Mb) and I am facing some performance issues I would like to discuss. It seems that my macbook is operating in "two different modes". After working for some time on it the performance starts droping. The same happens with 2Gb of RAM.

I tried to find a way measuring performance. I downloaded some 1080p and 720p HD Movies from Apple Quicktime Gallery. When my macbook operates correctly the playback of an 1080p movie works perfectly at normal size or at full screen, but sometimes the performance dropps and so do the frames...

The tempreature (measured by CoreDuoTemp) never exeeds 75ÂșC.

I think I had bad luck and I bought a faulty macbook.
Does anybody have same issues? Is there any other way of measuring performace (Benchmarking tool?). Any suggestions before calling Apple?

Well if you are playing a 1080p movie on a MacBook, it is not going to be at full performance due to the fact that it has integrated graphics.

Does the graphics card really affect the 1080p performance much? I thought it affected 3D more. My iMac G5 is awful when it comes to 1080p despite not having integrated graphics. It just can't handle it whereas my MacBook can.

Making HD movies maybe, but playing HD is the same as every other movie file, they just contain more information. There is more for the CPU to read but no rendering is needed.
