Will the 20 inch apple monitor - the ones before the aluminum - just plug into the new powermacs?

Thanks

No, the new powermacs use DVI, they may come with an adaptor, if not, you will need to get a conversion box.

i'd say, save the money and don't buy the adapter but buy an upgraded apple monitor which is (as of today much cheaper) only US$699. or for you: 544 EURO ; 367 Pound.
the conversion boxes i've seen were quite pricey.

you could sell the old monitor or save it as a backup, OR use it as a second display if your PM supports that

Yeah, I think they changed in the second edition of powermacs last year, because I know the very first powermac g5s they made had the adc cards.

£529 cheapest display in UK! But some good deals on sony monitors around at the moment. Maybe time to sell - maybe just get an adaptor off ebay.

Thanks for all your comments. Really helpful and quick response too.

Your link is bad. Apple store links expire very quickly.

Apple ADC-to-DVI adapters are $99.

From the original 2002 press release (when they were originally $149):
The DVI to ADC Adapter is a compact device that measures 5-inches square and features active components to boost the DVI signal to ensure its integrity for maximum image quality even when running large, high-resolution flat panels, such as the 23-inch Apple Cinema HD Display. The adapter includes an integrated power supply, an AC power cord and a 2-meter cable with USB and DVI. The Apple flat panel display is attached directly to the ADC (Apple Display Connector) port located on the adapter.

Apple Part Number: M8661LL/B

Well i sold my present mac set-up for a good price (apple studio display 20 inch and dual 1.8 G5), got a student discount and ordered 266 Mac Pro with 23 inch monitor. Can't wait for the 18th!

Thanks for all the advice!
