What was the first MacOS with USB Support? Just wondering which OS I would need for a customer's machine.

I believe 8.1 had USB support since it was the first OS on the rev A iMacs. If you can I would use either 8.5.1 or 8.6 if you don't want to go to 9.x

OS 8.1 was first but only with native USB macs, if you are poping a USB card into a PCI slot then you need to use OS 8.6 or above.

Captain Obvious is obviously correct. We get this question every day at work, from people trying to put USB cards in older machines.

Don't get anything less than 8.5... 8.1 wasn't very good with USB support (lots of bugs) and why run 8.5 when you get 8.6 with less bugs at no cost.
