I have a new 19" monitor connected to a Rage 128 video card in a beige G3 running OS 9. When I first got the new monitor, I attached the old one to the built-in monitor port and played around with dual monitors for a while. I got rid of the old monitor but can't figure out how to get the computer to forget about it. The monitor Control Panel continues to show both monitors. Even a clean install of OS 9 doesn't work. I would ignore the problem but every so often my cursor disappears into the nonexistent monitor screen and it takes a while to find it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you were using an adapter on your old monitor, be sure to remove it. The Mac sees the adapter as a monitor.

Removing the adapter, trashing the Monitor prefs and restarting solved the problem. Many thanks!
