Someone said somewhere that MacNN suddenly looked like MacUpdate (?) for a short while, and then returned to normal. Maybe Peter just managed to get that shot in before it went back.

Wonder why, though... maybe Frank was a bit cross-eyed after a 28-hour vB-tweaking day and accidentally uploaded to the end-product location, rather than the test location?

The last update a few months ago is that effgee had a few weeks to finish things up; however, it never got done. Therefore, it won't be happening.

Why the hell did I have to do image verification to do a search for a user?

Maybe Effgee is masquerading as a different user and lying low?

1. According to the system, his last activity was before his last post, so I can only assume that the information can't be trusted. Stupid DB woes.

2. I guess that's a new function added in a recent version of vB, presumably to prevent robots from scouring forums for AIM names, web addresses and so on to send spam to. The whole point of image verification is to ensure that computers can't automate whatever service the image protects.

3. Could be. I have no idea.

Well, considering I heard the news from Frank (effgee) directly, I'm pretty sure the hunch has indeed been transformed into fact.

It was a time commitment issue last I heard, he is too busy to take on this project with this real-life work.

It's been a little while since I've heard from him, but I doubt things have changed.

Well, if he's not being paid for it, I can't blame him for not making progress. There's no reason this job shouldn't be compensated as any other job would be. (Edit to clarify: I have zero knowledge of the terms of the redesign deal, so I have no idea what the compensation agreement is -- nor is it any of my business!)

he'll be working on finishing the graphics and such over the next month. then someone (probably me) will be integrating his theme & hacks into the main forum site. so if things go well, it'll likely take shape in the weeks after MWSF (since i'll be busy attending, and making huge changes before a large traffic spike might not be the best idea).

Someone needs to get cracking on the new design improvements as I'm still using the legacy version. Honestly, the home page needs to have a greater availability of information and not just links to articles. I hate hovering the mouse over a link to see what it's about or clicking on one and then having to hit the back button etc.
