A question for those running Vista on a Mac via Parallels.

I've got a MBP 2.33Ghz with 2GB Ram and 256Mb video memory. Vista installed fine via Parallels (build 3188) but it only recognizes 16Mb of video memory. Anyone else encountered this? Is this related to Parallel's video driver for Vista not recognizing the full video memory?

This is related to the Parallel capability, I think the only people who can give u a acurate answer will be Parallel technical support.

Parallels is emulating a 16MB graphics card. You can't change this.

Not true... at least with the version I'm running (build 3150). The VM Configuration Editor has a slider that gives me the ability to increase the video memory to 32MB. That said, it recommends a maximum of 16MG.

Well it is mostly true. Parallels is emulating a 2d only video card with a user adjustable 4-32MB video memory. But since its 2d only, the video memory is used exclusively for the size of desktop. 32MB makes no sense if you're working on a MacBook or MBP. In most cases 8-16MB is all that's needed.

On a 3D video card the extra memory is used for a backing for textures and video processing. Since Parallels does not emulate a 3d video card...
