TORONTO (CP) - Toronto police temporarily shut down two major highways Friday as they gingerly removed several letter bombs from an east-end neighbourhood and ferried them across town to be detonated at an isolated site near the waterfront.
The devices in question were plucked from the trunk of a car during the arrest Thursday night of a man police allege is connected to a string of attempted letter bombings earlier this month in Toronto and Guelph, Ont., an hour's drive west.
Weird. I had been hearing about the letter bombs. Glad to hear they caught the guy. I don't know any details about him, but it doesn't sound like like some international terrorist or anything. Perhaps more like a crazy local sending these things to people that had pissed him off.

Yeah I got stuck in traffic because of that- the odd thing is, while they shut down traffic they weren't able to keep pedestrians from walking by the convoy! Well, at least that is what CBC report this afternoon.
Apparently they detonated them on the Leslie spit. And during the airshow maybe?
