I just got my iLife '08 up to date upgrade CD, and I don't know if it can only be installed on one computer, so I am debating to myself if i should put it on my macbook or imac. Can it be used more than once?

The license is for single use.

Well, apparently not! Please note that the upgrade I have is one I ordered for 10$, having purchased my macbook after August 7th. I successfully installed iLife '08 and both my macbook and imac.

Physically, you can put it on unlimited machines. However, the license only allows you to install it on one single machine.

iLife '08 contains absolutely no sort of registration system--you just install it on your machine and go. Morally speaking, you should buy another copy, as you're definitely in breach of the license. However, as mpancha said, realistically you can and you (almost definitely) won't ever get in trouble for it.
