Holy cow, I didn't realize how many there were. I have a WRT54GS 3.0 router and I found a firmware that turns it into a Level 2 switch with load balancing.

My brother and I were looking for a way to manage our internet connection so we could run updates, torrents, etc, but not have it interfere with the other person's browsing or gaming. I found a firmware from EzPlanet that adds load balancing and multiplexing DSL lines.

Pretty sweet.

I have the standard WRT firmware on it that I loaded onto it a long while ago when I first started experimenting. Now I'm gonna upgrade it to this load balancing one.

My friend told me that I can turn a Linksys print server into a SAN with a USB HDD plugged into it instead of a printer using a custom firmware. Gonna investigate that.

Anyone else use a custom firmware on their Linksys?

I did not know about the wireless printer server to NAS trick, very cool.

OpenWRT works on more than just linksys routers now, too. I've been meaning to try it out on my old broadcom router. I want to setup a persistent IPSec tunnel for work and play with the qos and fancy switching stuff.
