Hello,

I'm quite interested in moving to using a Mac notebook. Currently I use a notebook with Ubuntu Linux (fluxbox). I'm extremely adept with intel/x86/amd64/x86_64 hardware, Windows and Linux but I want to further my knowledge.

I'd like to be able to play a few games on said notebook too, but primarily I'd be watching films and developing/programming.

The G4 notebooks have taken my interest, but I'm not sure what to go for. Can anyone post any recommendations, and games that are worth looking at for Mac.

I'm not particularly interested in the new MacBooks or MacBook Pros - want to try a different architecture!

Cheers!

Unfortunately, if you go with the PowerPC based laptops, you're heading for a dead end architecture on the Mac. You also won't be able to do much gaming at all on one of those. If you still wanna explore programming for the PowerPC, I'd recommend buy a MacBook or MacBook Pro (if you wanna do gaming), then get yourself a cheap, older Mac laptop.

As much love as I have for the G4, it's time has passed. If you're gonna get a Mac, get an Intel Mac, and that way if you want to do any gaming you can just reboot to Windows.

The G4's are dead. Go for an Intel Book instead.

its its just for fun, i'd recommend picking up an older Power Mac, they are pretty robust even for being over 3-7 years old, and you can pick on up pretty cheap.

As with buying an old laptop, i'd be very cautious as parts and repairs can get very expensive real quick.

I GOT WASTED WITH PHIL SHERRY!!!
