I have had mine for only 6 months and the down-scroll is already dyeing.
Signature depreciated.

I don't use a mouse anymore, but I always thought we'd see a mouse with the iPod click-wheel.

Anyways, Apple should keep the MM design, but make the ball "immovable" but touch-sensitive. That way, it would still function the same without getting dirt inside.

Also, Apple should fix the clicking to allow for chords.

Buy the Laser Mouse 6000 from Microsoft. Paint it white or aluminum to make it their own.

clean your MM's ball, it will work again. I've had mine for over a year and while it does stop responding sometimes, all i have to do is rub it back and forth over my shirt or an "electronics cleaning wipe" and all is well...

It's dyeing (...the process of imparting colour to a textile material in loose fibre, yarn, cloth or garment form by treatment with a dye)? Weird?

Your mouse scroll ball just needs cleaning. Still a great mouse, though I dislike the side buttons which makes Windows web browsers go back a page...

Mine's completely dying now. It's not the scroll ball anymore. It works fine when I clean it but now the middle click doesn't work properly anymore which is a major PITA since it's mapped to Exposé and I'm sooo used to it now.

I'm fed up with it. I'm looking for a new mouse. Any tips ?

You missed out option 6 - Buy a different mouse and chuck the MM away.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.
