Hey

Just curious if anyone else has had/resolved this issue I am having.

When playing some DivX video files, I can't get any sound, if I burn it on a DVD and play it on my DVD player the sound is fine. On the iMac and Macbook I get no sound using either Quicktime OR DivX Pro Player to play it?

Is there a special codec I need or something?

Any insight would be great, thanks!

Is the volume on your Mac muted? Do other apps have working audio?

Try VLC media player.

No the volume isn't muted

Other DivX movies work fine, its just the odd one that won't have sound, but then does on the DVD player. I will try out your recommended application and see how it works.

Maybe those DivX movies have AC3 audio and you don't have the AC3 codec for Quicktime installed?

For DivX movies with AC3 audio I would always use VLC since it's the only app (that I know of) that can output real AC3 sound via SPDIF (check VLC prefs)!

I would either try Perian or VLC. Of the two, I would personally recommend VLC; I use it personally, and I've never come across a single file I couldn't play. If that doesn't solve your problem, I'm not sure what will...
