Hey all,
After installing the keyboard firmware update, which seems to have alleviated the KB issues entirely, I've noticed that my MBP doesn't sleep properly anymore.
The symptoms I've noted are as follows:
• The machine looks like it's asleep, but all that really happens is the screen is disabled and the LED power light comes on.
• The machine gets extremely hot while "sleeping" (because it's not really asleep).
• The machine runs through its battery much more quickly than before installing the update, though this may just be because power is being consumed while in sleep mode (though the battery does seem to be consumed during normal operation far more quickly also.
• The machine will not wake up, and I usually have to force restart it (though I've heard if you want a minute or so it will wake up (vid driver timeout thingo), but that's not a realistic option, put simply).
Am I the only one to be experiencing these issues?

Probably. What peripherals (if any) do you leave attached when you try to put the machine to sleep? Try disconnecting everything. Also try quitting all applications. If the machine still will not go to sleep, there must be something else keeping it awake. Try turning off BT and/or Airport. You should also try to usual: repair permissions, reset PRAM, etc.

Didn't cause any such issues here. I'd do what ibook_steve suggested. If that doesn't help, try downloading the update form apple.com and installing it again.

You are definitely not the only one experiencing these issues. Just from my own post history, I found threads describing this problem here, here, here, and here. I currently have a 15" MBP in for its fourth round of repairs at Apple for this problem, and my personal 17" Rev. A MBP has had this problem forever.
The one good thing about having four rounds of repair with Apple is that it has given me many opportunities to compare notes with Apple's product support specialists. You can see my summary of the causes of this problem in one of those posts ( here and a little more information here).
Unfortunately, I don't have any fixes for you, and it looks like Apple may be out of ideas on my computer that's in for repair. (They inexplicably replaced a DIMM on two of the latest repair attempts. Desperation? Probably.) If you've got Applecare or are still under warranty, I recommend you get Apple started on this problem. It may take a bit, but you might get a replacement machine for your troubles.

Apple today finally opted to replace the machine that shared this issue. We ended up replacing the top case assembly (to get the sleep read switch), a defective DIMM, and the logic board. (They didn't actually replace a DIMM twice -- i was mistaken.) After that, they just gave up and decided to replace the machine rather than waste time and money chasing something intermittent.
