I need to buy car insurance for the first time for a new car. I have very good credit, but am in my early 20s. Any recommendations?

Any military relationships or relatives ?
USAA has very competitive rates, if you are eligible to join.

I'm 21 and I'm getting pretty good rates from Progressive...like full coverage for $330/6 months.

Stay away from GEICO, they have horrid claims service.
State Farm is good, but a bit expensive.
Progressive is good for someone your age.
Farmers was bought by Zurich in 2003 or so and have been restructured. They have been buying companies so they can best match people to their risk level.
Whatever you do, buy a renters/homeowners policy with the same company for the discount applied to both. For renters, in many cases, the discount from the auto will pay for the renters. Especially when you are in your 20's. Also, if someone were to break into your car and steal something that is not attached to the vehicle, it will not be covered in most states under comprehensive.

I'll 2nd staying away from Geico. Far away. Far, far away.
They had my vehicle for 19 days at one of their auto express repair facilities. They delayed my x-mas departure until the 23rd, when I was promised the car by the 19-20th. And, they did a piss poor job. It was just a rear quarter panel replacement, as I had been hit by a deer. Effing worst experience of my life.

some years ago (early nineties i think) car and driver published an article on how geico was providing free lidar guns to police municipalities, for the thinly-veiled purpose of giving their policyholders tickets, therefore increasing their rates. haven't had much interest in geico since.

Busted.
I knew that. I was just looking for a reason to post his commercials. I love the first two! They just crack me up and I wanted to share them with everyone.

Perhaps, but I worked in the industry for five years and never, never had such a hassle as I did when working a claim with GEICO.
