Not sure if you get this question a lot. I have a first-gen MacBook(early - mid 2006), I want to change the logic board out, for a late 2007 logic board. I've read that some sensors' cables may not align correctly, but as I understand it, the board form factor/ports are the same. I want to reap the benefits of the newer MacBook technologies that were not in my available in my version. Obviously, I'm not trying to plop down the plunkers for a new laptop. Is it possible to put a late 2007 MacBook logic board into a first-gen MacBook, and have the computer function as if it were a late 2007 machine?

Possible, but not likely. It's very rare lately that newer model logic boards will fit in older cases, let alone that connectors, cables, heat sinks, etc., will all be the same and work the same to support the newer board. It's a risky proposition, especially if the older heat sink can't sufficiently cool the chips on the newer board.

Thanks, ibook_steve. I am a lil short on the money now, so, I'll just wait.

How difficult is the logic board change?
Can it be done at home?

As I said, it's most likely not possible.

oh ye naysayers....where's that ol' yankee ingenuity?
It's probably possible but some soldering/dremel tool love might be necessary.
(although it's prob just worth it to sell the old macbook and put the money towards a new one...)
