anyone else have this happen regularly?

just lately i've had to shut down safari a couple of times/day because it gets my cpu up to 98% and wont go down... i can close every open tab/window and it will stay that high until i close safari altogether

its heating up my macbook pro to absurd hotness [sic] and it sucks...
any suggestions?

i use camino and firefox regularly too and this never happens... it never used to happen with safari - i could go days without closing the browser or restarting it...

weird.

Is it really just Safari that causes that ?
What does "top -uw" report in Terminal ?

The only times that Safari freaks out on me is

a) when you have dozenz of windows and tabs open
b) on some farkin' Flash sites

Do you have any Safari plugins/enhancers installed?

is it on certain sites. I found that firefox goes to 100% cpu on sites that use flash videos. I do not recall if safari has this problem

Have you tried looking in the Console to see if there are any relevant messages?

Does this happen with Flash enabled websites? It's a known issue in OSX that Flash will make your CPU use up to 100% power. try watching a YouTube video with activity monitor open and watch the CPU. Basically Adobe's code on OSX is garbage and needs to be fixed before this will stop happening. It has been driving me insane for years now. Seems to happen to me as well when watching .wmv videos in Safari via Flip4Mac as well.

I never knew this before. Adobe writes the (junk) code?

Why doesn't Apple write some Flash of their own?

P.S. Weather.com's browser crashing video interface via Bluebox is even worse.
