On i386 Debian PC, I have installed netatalk. Using the Mac Mini(ppc)and the AFP protocol, I went in the GO menu to type in username@linux internal IP numbers, then I'm able to see my /home folder. When I try mapping the external hd, it doesn't work, not sure why. The ext. hd is connected to the linux pc.

Next I created a symlink in /home/user folder to the external hd, but when I'm on the Mini, I see the symlink icon and if I click the icon, it disappears.

Any ideas why this is happening? Or how can I view the external hd from the mini?

Thnx.

Someone at another forum mention doing this.
If you really want to share your external hard drive, you would have to configure netatalk to share both volumes. You would also have to mount both volumes on your client (mini).
Looking at my debian's /etc/netatalk/AppleVolumes.default, I see at the end of it, ~/ "Home Directory". I can share my /home/user without issues.

So to add the external hd to it, would I need to add, /media/"My Book", to the end of AppleVolumes. file?
