I cannot believe the officials missed a trip on Backstrom and come back 10 seconds later a call a trip on the Caps to give the Pens the PP.
Pens are getting all the calls and lucky bounces in this series. Stenckel had an open-net goal opportunity 18 seconds into OT and the puck bounced over his stick. LOL
And what an f-ing lucky game-winning goal - it wasn't even a shot, it was a pass that got blocked by a Caps player into the net.
Not to take anything away from the Pens, but they have gotten some really lucky breaks to go up 3-2.

Out of mild curiosity, do you...know what you're talking about? Do you know much about hockey? Have you watched this series? Someone else made a similar comment last night as well, and it astounded me.
The Pens have outplayed the Caps this entire series. Varlamov's outstanding play, and some phenomenal individual effort by Ovie, is the only reason the Caps are in this series. To say the Pens had some "lucky breaks" when they've outplayed and outshot the Caps in every game this series is... well, foolish.
You make your own luck. When you take 11 more shots than your opponent in a game, odds are that you're going to get lucky bounces.

I'm so tired of hearing these bandwagon Caps fans talk about lucky breaks. Truthfully i expected AO to play like the phenomal goal scorer he is but hes the only one on the team playing to their full potentional (varmalov has been impressive, and i would say his save on crosby with the stick blade was about as "lucky" as they come). The pens haven't playeed their best hockey every night but i will say that the caps have been outplayed in at least 4 of these games. As Shortcut says, in the NHL you create "lucky" bouces by forcing the play and skating your a** off.

Yeah because if one happens to have a different opinion from Mr "Hockey Expert" Shortcuttomoncton, one must not know what one is talking about...
You don't get tired of that silliness, do you?

Congrats to the Hawks. I'd love to see the Wings play them in the conference finals. Let's see what happens tonight.

Yeah, should be a great game.
Again, last night: the Pens outshot them 40-odd to 24 or something like that, and really was the better team for most of the game. Simply put, Washington has been much better at scoring on their quality chances, due to a combination of having better goaltending and better finishing.

Just goes to show that quality scoring chances can be better than simply throwing the puck at the net over and over hoping something goes in or you get a lucky bounce or deflection.
Granted, that deflection by Stenkel was pretty lucky but the Caps were due to have the puck bounce their way in this series.
And yet again, the officiating was horrible as it's been this whole series and in the playoffs in general. I don't see how you can call a minor penalty with 2 minutes left in a Game 6 elimination game with the game tied in the 3rd period.
Let them play it out - don't be the deciding factor in the series. Was it a slash? Probably. But it wasn't a violent slash on his body and it didn't affect play. At that point in the game, you've got to let something like that go and let the boys play.

Ugh when you think the Ducks are done and out they manage to win a game. Perry's goal was sweet : prevent a golden opportunity against his team then find himself 10 s later in the opposite side to score with a perfect deflection. Perfect.
I think something is up with Datsyuk as he is not shooting the puck as usual.

Wow. That was a good old-fashioned ass-whoopin'. LOL
Tone was set when Fleury made that great glove save on the Ovey break-away. Varly played horribly - I would have liked to have seen coach take him out at 3-0, not that it would have made a difference.
The better team won this series. I thought the Caps might be able to pull it off after taking Game 6 in Pittsburgh, but they were simply outmatched and outplayed tonight. Pens made it look easy. No breaks or lucky bounces in this game - just poor goal-tending, sloppy puck control, and bad passing by the Caps and suffocating defense by the Pens.
Congrats Pens - good luck in the next round.

It ended exactly how it should of, the pens outplayed the caps but AO and Varmalov kept them in it through game 6, but in the end the better team moved on

Bruins-Canes : Bruins in 7 (The 'Canes showed that they won't quit)
2/4. Bah. Too much credit for Luongo, and I guess the 'Canes really really really don't ever quit.
Next round, I am hesitating between a rematch of the 2002 SCF and the 2008 SCF.
Wings-Hawks : Wings in 6
Pens-Canes : Canes in 6 (they won't quit).
Back to the 2002 SCF!! (hopefully with the same outcome!!)

Blech...I picked only the Wings-Ducks series correctly.
For CFs: Wings in 5 / Pens in 6
Return to last year's finals--hopefully (especially for Hossa) the same outcome.

Why? Because he decided to take a one year contract and less money inj exchange of what he saw as a bettre chance of winning the cup? Seriously?

I guess you guys did not get the memo but the actual SCF has been played already and the Wings won it in 7 games . Everything else is just entertainment.

Yes. Exactly.
I'm so sick of seeing player sign in Detroit for a discount.
**** the Red Wings.
You guys have had way to much time in the sun. It's time for the suffering to begin so the rest of the fans in the league can laugh while the Wings fans start jumping off the bandwagon like ants jumping off a turd that's spiraling down a flushed toilet.

Pens in 5
SCF: Pens over Wings in 6
Those two Game 7 semi-final games last night were a treat to watch after the Game 7 Caps thrashing Monday night. LOL

Allright maybe I should have inserted a instead of a .
But honestly, just like last year, I don't see a team from the East winning. The West is better in my mind.

Sweet indeed. These Hawks will be good in the coming years, very good. And should the Wings stay at this level, it will be some entertaining hockey to watch!

Not playoffs, but Hockey related...
Patty Roy has been offered the Avs coaching job according to The Denver Post.
Not thrilled with the idea. Roy was a great goalie but he's an asshat.

Could not watch the Wings game live last night, but I saw Kronwall's "interference/game misconduct" on Havlat (on NHL.com by the way, which tells me that they don't think it was that bad...) : that call was... "unfortunate" to say the least. Not too worried about the outcome of the series though : well except for Huet who in my mind actually can steal this series. Let's hope coach Q goes back to Khabibulin.

I was thinking the same thing, hoping the hawks could get another win...
THEN they win 6 to 1

Boy I am glad the Wings proved me wrong about Huet. It was vintage Red Wings hockey though. They have that amazing way to make all teams play like goons.

i don't know : I think there is a difference between a late elbow hit to the head from behind and a shoulder hit to the chest while the puck is right there. But what do I know?

But he made no attempt to play the puck (never mind touch it), if I remember correctly? That's a pretty tough call, without the use of replay. Say it was open ice, and Havlat opted not to play a pass and let it sail by him to another teammate; wouldn't it be interference then?
I mean, dicey call, but it'll happen either way in those circumstances, especially when it's a did-he-play-the-puck scenario.
Sucks that there's no game tonight, though! I'm hoping for a monster Staal game and a Hurricanes win, just to massage my pool numbers....
