If I unlock a 3GS and put it on TMobile, will TMob's 3G network work, or are the frequencies different?

Thanks!

I'm confused.

The iPhone 3GS supports 850, 1900, 2100 MHz (for UMTS/HSDPA) and 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz (GSM/EDGE).
Apple - iPhone - Technical Specifications
So why should T-Mobile USA not work? They use 1900 MHz for EDGE and 2100 MHz for UMTS too. I see they also use 1700 Mhz for UMTS which the iPhone doesn't have, but does that matter if it has 2100 MHz?
