I've been unable to start up my PowerMac G3 B&W 350 MHz DVD running OS 9.1 as a FireWire Target Disk on my new iBook. I can startup the iBook as a FW Target Disk on the B&W, just not the other way around. Any ideas? Are any extensions critical for this? Thanks.

It can't be done. You need at least a G4 tower to start in FireWire Target Disk Mode. Check out: http://til.info.apple.com/techinfo.nsf/artnum/n58583 . The G3 towers are not supported.
