I obviously actually discounted your opinion because of postcount. I really care about postcount that much. I hope the italics gives away that I'm being sarcastic.

Sorry, I don't speak awful emoticon.
But yeah, you playing along seems totally plausible, especially in light of you taking a jab at my postcount mere moments after.

No, that was my way of saying "I find your post funny, because I don't think its true, but even if it is, that's still funny."
No, I don't think that was self-explanatory.

I'm seeing that too. Perhaps these "kids" would like some points to ponder? As in infraction points? Consider this a warning.
On topic, I think recasting the voices would be bad for the series and bad for Fox. It would make the network look like they were in the wrong whether they were or not, and it would hurt viewership. Fry's voice is part of his character; you may as well get someone else to voice Homer Simpson. The same is true for the other characters-could Bender "be" Bender without the particular qualities of John DiMaggio's voice? (Would the double entendre of the character's name come across if he didn't sound like he'd been "on a bender?") And viewers who have watched for years would tune out very quickly without Katey Segal voicing Leela. Bad for business on all counts, I think. How much does Dan Castellaneta make for doing Homer, anyway? I'll bet it makes the new salary demands of the Futurama cast sound more reasonable...

Gentlemen, gentlemen, I believe we're losing focus of this thread, which is shif's opinion on fair pay for voice actors is laughable.

Clearly, some sort of government program should be set up to determine what fair compensation would be for voice actors, and all of the leftover money from the show can go towards funding the government program. Win-win.

I won't watch it without the original voice actors, that would be like Star Trek without Shatner...
Wait for it...

I feel like we're stating the obvious here. Has there been some other cartoon show in history that actually survived such a stunt?
I think FOX would cancel the show before doing such a thing.

i know that the first season (and the shorts) had a few different voice actors for the Simpsons. first season or few episodes of Family Guy too. but that is the opposite of what Futurama may do.

Futurama cast members ink new deal with Fox
LOS ANGELES–The Star has learned exclusively that the voice cast of Futurama has just signed a new contract with Fox after weeks of intense salary negotiations.
The compromise agreement, with the studio paying more and the actors accepting less, comes after the announcement of a 26-episode pick-up here by Comedy Central.

All the classic Disney characters, for example, since their original voice actors are dead, so no amount of salary negotiations will bring them back.
As much as I prefer the original actors, it's certainly possible (with great effort) to find suitable replacements that sound basically the same.

They've paid good money to hear him cover Lennon...
I think Shatner's best character so far is "the Priceline negotiator," where he lampoons himself so very thoroughly. Of course he makes a pretty good beat poet, too.
Back on topic: to me, the way Fox came to terms with the voice talent shows that they got some serious negative publicity out of flatly rejecting the talent's request for more money. I think it shows Fox that their audience is actually the SHOWS' audience, and that's a good thing. It won't bring back the several series that Fox shouldn't have canceled, but maybe it'll get their suits to think about what they do.

There's something I don't really understand regarding the corporate side of this show resurrection: Fox bailed on the show, and years later Comedy Central has picked it back up, so what does Fox have to do with the process at this point? Isn't it Comedy Central's cash funding the new season?

20th Century Fox= Production Company. You'd be surprised how little to do with each other that production and (Fox) broadcast divisions have. The broadcast network may as well be a rival company.
They're producing the show for the highest bidder to broadcast, but of course that doesn't mean Fox is giving it away. Fox maintains the rights- it's their property. C.C. already runs Futurama in Syndication- which is where the real goldmine is. (For Fox, that is.)
