Just getting started on my new MBP. Was using Entourage before but want to give Mail a try. Keep getting this error message:

The server error encountered was: The server “imap.uchicago.edu” refused to allow a connection on port 143.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Thanks!

Many imap providers prefer secure channels for mail clients. Your university does too.

Use port 993 with SSL for incoming. Port 465 SSL for outgoing/smtp.

Excellent. Thank you!

I see with outgoing i have two options using SSL:

"Use default ports (25, 465, 587)" and "Use custom port:______"

Should I use custom port 465 or the default, which it includes it?
