Recently my iBook has become unreliable when putting it to sleep. The screen goes black but the system remains one and the sleep light never comes on. Pressing any keys or mouse button will not wake it up. I have read about problems like this being caused by having Classic running but I don't have it running. I fact it will do it from a clean start before I've even logged in. I've run Disk Utility (from booted install CD) and fsck in single user mode and niether found any problems with the disk. I use a USB Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical but the problem still occurs even with that and all other devices unplugged. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

EDIT: Forgot to mention I'm using Mac OS 10.1.2

Do you by any chance have any out of date PTH menu bar accessories running?

I had this condition occur once. I left the iBook alone for a while. Normally the screen saver comes on and the screen dims. But after it went to sleep mode, I couldn't get it to wake up. Classic was running and I have an Applescript menu thingy in the menu bar.

Apple does have a fix for this sleep problem i believe and it can be downloaded from the apple support size.
