I'm having some weird problems with flash - when I visit certain sites it doesn't work properly (e.g. on Google Analytics when I put the mouse over a point on the graph a blank box comes up).

I tried uninstalling then reinstalling flash but this hasn't helped. When I logged in as the admin user on my computer all the problem sites worked fine. I've tried emptying the browser caches as well as junking the preferences and the cache for flash but nothing is working.

I'm running 10.6.2 and the latest version of flash is installed. The problem occurs whichever browser I'm using (have tried with the latest versions of Ominweb, Safari, Firefox and Chrome).

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks, Tam

Open Disk Utility and run Repair Permissions on your OS X volume.

If that doesn't work, try putting a copy of the Flash Player.plugin in ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins. Currently it is in /Library/Internet Plug-Ins. The ~ symbol means your home directory.

Thanks.

Should have mentioned that I've already run a permissions repair but that didn't work. I tried putting a copy of the plugin in the directory you mentioned but unfortunately that hasn't worked either.

Create a new, non-admin user, then try the browsers in that new account to see if the Flash problem continues.

If not, then we know it's something in your current account.

I've tried that and it works fine on the new account.

Well, I found the answer over on this thread on the Apple website:

Apple - Support - Discussions - Invisible Text in Flash Player on ...

Turns out it was a font problem. Using Font Book turned up the problem font, removed it and everything now runs fine.
