You mean Obama jokes about the special Olympics.
I can't believe you just call participants of the special Olympics as "retarded" people.
If Obama makes fun of the Republican party, it doesn't mean he is making fun of "retarded" people, just because there are mentally challenged people in that party.
Glenn Beck actually uses the term "retarded children".

The Obama administration today released the latest employment figures. Unemployment just dropped to 9.7% from 10.1%. This despite losing an additional 870,000 jobs adjusted over the past several months and adding on top of that an additional 20,000 jobs last month. If you believe 9.7% you must be retarded.

That standard being no cursing and using words like 'retarded'?
Hell, who left to run the country? Non-English speakers?
Maybe McCain should be fired for using racial slurs like 'gook' and calling his wife a 'bitch'. Yet, he was the Republican's presidential candidate.
Guess Republicans have no standards.

I saw the same Daily Kos poll. I don't agree with many of the responses people gave, but many of these responses could be countered with the release of the President's long-form birth certificate (the one he's spent over $500,000 in legal fees prevent) and school records. It really is that easy.
What proof do you have that Obama is not a socialist or Marxist?

That revised 870,000 were not included in these figures. Also, a million people gave up looking for work, so they dropped out of the job-seeking pool. Also, add in 1.2 million temporary census workers, which I believe were considered in these numbers. I might be wrong.

You seem to be responding as if you think I'm GOP. I guess in your small mind anyone who doesn't agree with you must be GOP.
Let me set you straight: I'd fire all politicians. Every last one of them.

No. I believe you are from England, call yourself an anarcho-capitalist, and supports polygyny but not polyandry.
I guess to you, anyone who doesn't agree with you has a small mind.

You specifically cited a poll and seemingly mocked the results. Specifically on the socialist issue, how can you justify mocking people's response to that question when the response might be the truth?
Furthermore, if indeed the response is true, I would say that somewhat invalidates your poll-based conclusion that the respondents are (as you say) 'F-ing retarded'.

But I wasn't mocking them for believing Obama is a socialist.

See, no mention of the word 'socialist' in the above statement.

Rahm Emanuel equates stupidity with the "f-ing retarded"... I help pay his salary; another reminder that we've been snookered. I mean, I suppose if he had a television program it'd be interesting to watch (in a Gordon Ramsay goes to Washington sort of way), but... his reality show is a little more profound than some talking head with a television show during drive-time.

I mostly agree with you, but that is what election day is for. This kind of thing does reflect on the man who chose him.

Election day without a well informed electorate is not very helpful. Getting a good perspective on the candidates means knowing what they say and what lots of people think that means. I actually do homework before an election, and that includes listening to both the supporters and detractors of the various candidates. Our electoral process lately (in the last 40-50 years at least) has said very bad things about us as a nation; we've elected scoundrels, villains, simpletons and idealists, with the last category being much fewer but often far more damaging than the first three put together.

Did I say something disagreeable? I'm merely citing the fact that there has yet to be a thread where someone from the left is under the microscope for saying something stupid that the responses don't include; PALIN...FOXNEWS...GLENNBECK... it's pavlovian, predictable, and meaningless.
IMO, using Rahm for rants is more humane than using Rahm for more unfunny.

My bad.
Looking at it now, I see that it was the link title that included the "Socialist" word, and with the automatic link titles here on 'NN, it's inclusion could very well have been a result of that.

How is it possible to elect anything other than scoundrels, villains, simpletons and idealists? The people who're not those things know better than to stand for office.

At issue here is Rahm Emanuel and while the calls for his termination may seem opportunistic to you, stem from a wealth of reasons he should be gone. Not unlike Van Jones for example, who has said a number of things that historically would've lost him secured access to the White House, let alone an advisory position to the President.
What did he go down for? A slur against Republicans. So be it.

Whatever, you are playing the distraction card.
Palin did not make the argument as to why Rahm should be fired for reasons other than the slur against retarded people (not Republicans, unless you count them as retards). I created this thread based on the merits of what she said. If she laid out a coherent argument as to why he should be fired for reasons other than the comment, that would be a different story.
What is opportunistic is people like yourself using this as an opportunity to drag Rahm's name into the mud, even then this event is virtually unrelated to the other arguments as to why he should be fired.

It seemed she had two primary points of contention; that Rahm's a tool for saying it and that it makes the President look like a tool for appointing him. You don't have to agree with the premise, but it is entirely logical. This was just another character bit to add to the whole package for voters in 2012, that's all.
It's not surprising that you'd take issue with Palin's side of Rahm's gaffe; likely for the same reasons I'm taking issue with Rahm's gaffe. No mention of what a stupid thing for Rahm to say right? I mean, let's not BS ourselves here besson.

I never claimed otherwise besson. I think Rahm's a tool for a wealth of reasons, this just being among them. If he happened to go down for a slur against the intellectually challenged, so be it. In fact, it would be apropos.

I suppose it is a personal bias. I tend to think poorly of people who casually throw around the term "retarded". To me, it is no different that casual use of the "n" word.
I remember Bill Maher once liked the mentally disabled with household pets. I never liked him before that. I have continued to absolutely loathe him, since.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada described in private then-Sen. Barack Obama as "light skinned" and "with no f-ing Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one."
does anyone seriously think Harry Reid would still be in office if he had said his comment in a similar manner to Rahm?

The primary reason to me was that she was offended by the specific remarks in light of the fact that she has a Down baby. Like I said, if she wants to make a case about how this reflects upon the president, she'll have to make that argument and explain how this was one incident of many.
Rahm's gaffe? This was a private conversation, it is completely naive to think that politicians don't say naughty words and naughty things in private. If he had said this publicly, Palin's remarks wouldn't have caused my eyes to roll. I had no problem with Bush calling somebody a "major league asshole" either.
Let's not make this about me, there are many other threads available for discussing my greatness and many virtues. Thanks!

I never understood why it's a bad thing to associate fried chicken and greens with black people. It's a staple of southern cousin and soul food.

I don't think the problem is so much associating black people with fried chicken.
It's not much different from associating Chinese people with eggrolls, fortune cookie, and fried rice.
The problem is reducing a race to a caricature or stereotype.

If it's O.K for a black to call another black a ******, what's the problem with an ernest and obviously proud black woman celebrating with food she obviously associates with her heritage? And why do progressives feel they have the right "rehabilitate" ethnic minorities proud heritage as something politically incorrect? Let's hear the defense for this kind thuggery. This poor woman was mugged by the progressive thought police. I honestly felt her pain and her embarrassment at being called out as she was. You people are shameless. Sincerely. And when does retard get six asterisks for political correctness.

I don't have a problem with NBC serving soul food for Black history month.
I don't have a problem with schools serving mexican food for Cinco de Mayo, or Chinese food for Chinese New Year.
You have a problem with it?

One of the main problems I have with the "I'm offended" claim is that it requires no proof of any kind anyway. Anyone can and often will complain about anything. Palin claiming to be offended is not unique, Rahm spouting off at the mouth like a drunken truck driver is a little more telling of the caliber of man we have as the President's Chief of Staff. I don't see why anyone would have to prove anything in light of the numerous lightweights this President has surrounded himself by. This is just one more piece of evidence at how these folks function when the camera's not on.
Yeah. Rahm's remark that brought embarrassment to himself; a gaffe.
This was a private conversation, it is completely naive to think that politicians don't say naughty words and naughty things in private. If he had said this publicly, Palin's remarks wouldn't have caused my eyes to roll. I had no problem with Bush calling somebody a "major league asshole" either.
Growing up into my adult years, I've had the opportunity to be exposed to a great many people from all walks of life ranging from rough-neck blue collar to executive level management and not once have I heard the phrase "f*cking retards" uttered by anyone other than a disgruntled young slob in a schoolyard game of football. You might be cool with it and if Rahm wasn't such a tool in almost all counts, I'd probably give him a pass. In this instance I'd be happy if he went down and if it's a slur against the intellectually challenged, so be it. He's the lowest common denominator of feces and I submit a major reason for the divisive nature of this President and this Administration.
The only thing that sucks about Palin's complaint IMO is that it didn't get any traction.

Maybe Palin's complaints would get more traction if she weren't constantly complaining about everything she experiences (not that any of it is her fault, of course) to anybody who will listen.

That woman had been asking to do special menus for black history month and finally got the chance... next year it will be back to regular menus.

That's classic. What a shocker — Palin was just whining about someone she disagrees with.

So a black guy named Questlove who works at NBC complains about the menu.
That equates to Democrats and progressives believing "they have the right "rehabilitate" ethnic minorities proud heritage as something politically incorrect"?
Wow, that's a stretch.
I don't like guys like Al Sharpton who is overly PC and likes to play the race card.
Sarah Palin is the Republican Al Sharpton. She likes to play the retard card.

Do you really think that other politicians don't speak like drunken truck drivers in private? I like this authenticity, I have no problem with foul language and slang like this when done in private and off camera. This is how many people talk in real life, and politicians are real people.

My favorite Rahm quote on McNN:
Those stupid *************! Don't they realize how ******** this looks? The President will be *** ****** if he will kiss the *** of another ************* blue dog. Not to mention those **** ******* on the other side of the aisle. **** them! ******* *******!
