Since last night the Mac App Store has not been working properly. If I go to the "Purchases" page it tells me that I have 2 applications which have updates available. The "Updates" page says that all my applications are up to date. Clicking on the "Update" button in Purchases tells me "I have updates available for other accounts. Sign in to (null) to update applications for that account". I have only one account.

I have seen this behaviour on both my Macs. I have signed in and out of the App Store. I have restarted my computer. Nothing fixes it. Anyone else having similar problems? Maybe a sign that changes happening in the App Store?

I've seen some wonky behaviour. At one point, my purchases page became empty, but a few days later my purchases reappeared. My update page was also wonky, but I don't remember exactly what it was. Regardless, I think both this and your event are server-side errors, not on the computer itself.

I thought so too.

10.6.7 is rumoured to have an update to the App Store application. Maybe it will be more reliable. Usual version 1.0 problems.
