PPC Mac Mini. Firefox 3.6.20 and Safari 4.1.3. All of a sudden they both crash when using/navigating. Worked fine this morning/afternoon. REALLY strange. Downloaded ClamXav and currently running it. So far 2 issues seen, Exploit.PDF.19944 and Trojan.Counter.bytverify. Both deleted and Clam is still running. I have restarted the machine twice.
Any ideas what is causing this???

Despite what you found, you can rest assured your problem isn't being caused by a virus. Do you have a crash log?

I deleted and reloaded Firefox and now it won't even run. I get a "Firefox is already running, only one copy can be open at a time" message. It is NOT running! Ran termninal and Top and it doesn't show firefox running. These problems only started yesterday late afternoon. I'm perplexed.
Have firefox-bin crash log, 54k in size.

I'm curious. Why are aren't you running Safari 5?
Also, you can install TenFourFox if you want to run a later version of "Firefox". They so far support up to Firefox 6. Their website is currently down though.

Because I like Firefox better and Safari crashes as much on me as Fix does. I am currently downloading an earlier version of Firefox to see if that helps.

Well it seems both Firefox AND Safari are crashing. Anyone know what to try? This to me is really strange. Something must be corrupted yes?

Part of webkit more than likely. Try something like MSN Messenger, see if you can crash that easily too.
I had that issue and needed an OS reinstall to fix it.

I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

Your internet plugins might be to blame - one might be corrupted. Or have a corrupted preference/plist file somewhere. Try pulling all the plugins out (/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ *and* /Users/you/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/) and retrying the browsers. If that solves it, add one plugin back at a time and retest.
