References to iOS Office apps are appearing on Microsoft's support website, reports say. The French version of the site mentions an "Excel for iPad;" in another translation, references to that app are joined by ones for "PowerPoint for iPad" and "Office Mobile for iPhone." English-language documents are missing any reference to Office for iOS. A suite of official mobile Office apps has been expected for sometime, and is in development by Microsoft, but despite leaks the company has remained tight-lipped on any details. The suite is typically expected to launch early next year, potentially around February or March. iOS should also just be one of a few mobile platforms to get the apps, the other main option being Android.

Gosh, I hope Excel for iPad takes 2 minutes to start up like it does on the Mac version...that'll be true compatibility!

Office 2011 performs quite well on any Mac made in the last few years. My Mini is an early 2009 model, and it still starts quickly. On a new Mac, Office flies.

Well, your mileage may vary but on our 2011 MacBook Pro 8GB, our iMac 2011 27" 8GB and another iMac 2012 21.5" 4GB, Office apps are slow in opening, performing tasks and in general do anything and never do they "fly". We may have quite a few fonts which is supposedly an issue at times, but that's certainly not an issue w/ Pages & Numbers, Libre Office or any of the Adobe Creative Suite 5 apps. Only Quark 9 is noticeably slower but rarely do we use it.

Oh yeah. Better get your 64GB iPad ready because that's the minimum requirement. "Word" is the "Photoshop" from Microsoft.
