Today in the MacNN forums, Dedicated MacNNer "akent35" started a thread defending SuperDuper as a backup solution because every time this has come up in the past it starts a "war," and this time he believes he has reasonable evidence to prove this is a superior way to do backups. Yesterday Moderator "andi*pandi" was trying to figure out why Siri seems to have forgotten how to access contact information.

Earlier this week, Grizzled Veteran "frankthetank966" turned to the forums looking for a good way to delete old messages because he hasn't been able to delete them without them restoring themselves. Forum members discuss the best RAM upgrade options for the iMac, after one forum user asked if a specific type of memory would be compatible with their 27-inch iMac. The debate continues in the thread titled "iPad Air vs iPad 1" that was started by "andi*pandi" last week.

I did not necessarily say it was "superior". In fact, I gave some reasons why Time Machine was a possible better solution. Not sure why it was stated that way, but I believe my post was balanced enough. Super Duper is my backup choice, and it is fine for me. But, for others, Time Machine is.

I use both. They work well in tandem!
I use Time Machine in my office and clone my MacBook Pro's SSD every week or so.

That way, I figure I'm covered and have a bootable hard drive, just in case, or when I want/need to run Disk Warrior on my boot drive.

I recently needed to do that when Tech Tool Pro was not fully compatible with OS 10.9.3. By booting from my Super Duper Backup, I was able to use Disk Warrior instead.

I too use both. Have used SuperDuper to back up each night for at least 5 years. Wonderful when the hard drive dies and I can go straight to the clone. Time Machine is useful for back-tracking on a document or software etc.
