Apple is making good progress on the construction of its Campus 2 project, according to a flyover of the construction site by a camera-equipped drone. The latest look at the work underway at the future home of the company shows the last major section of the main ring-shaped building is being worked on, as well as some of the important infrastructure that Apple will use to its advantage, and an overview of the entire building site.
The
video from Matthew Roberts, reported
by 9to5Mac, reveals the last part of the main 'spaceship' is being framed, while other segments of the ring are at varying stages of completion, seemingly showing that work is gradually moving from one section to the next. Viewed from the inside of the ring, the canopy and
glass panel facade, along with solar panels on rooftops, continue to be installed at pace.
The drone footage takes time to look at the other buildings in the facility. The underground
on-site theater is "progressing rapidly," with the below-ground areas covered up from view and the round roof in place. The 100,000 square foot fitness center and the similar-in-scale research and development facility both have glass installed in areas, but with hefty amounts of work left to go.
There are also sightings of what drivers to the campus can expect when it is completed. Large tunnels leading from one area of the site to another are shown, while the solar panel-clad parking structures are very close to completion, with bridges and ramps connecting the two garages.
Work on Campus 2 is expected to continue until the end of this year, with an opening scheduled for early 2017.
