Every so often, MacNN finds a deal that is too big or important to go into our usual deals lists, and is major enough to be highlighted in its own Big Deals post. This time, it is the return of one of our most popular items from the MacNN Deals store, with the award-winning writing app Scrivener 2 available for purchase at half price for a very limited time.

Our Pointers: Summer Project last year showed off how Scrivener 2 is an app designed to help you write your novel as efficiently as possible. The combined project management tool and word processor provides outlining assistance to structure your book, store research that you can easily refer back to while you're writing, and keeps snapshots of drafts to make rewriting easier, just in case you need to flesh out or write out a character. It even includes a full-screen mode that blocks all distractions from your desktop, leaving you to concentrate on increasing your word count.

Available on both Mac and PC, Scrivener 2 is available for $22.50, but the deal runs out this evening, so act quick if you want it.

If you write anything with chapters, get it. The organization tools beat anything in Microsoft Word. It synchs marvelously via Dropbox and soon there'll be an iOS version for iPhones and iPads. You'll be able to jot down ideas on the go and write them up when you're back to your Mac—all inside the same document on the same app.
