I remember some really fervent supporters of the Iraq war, and by extension, Bush.
Things feel different in here now. Some of you guys have taken exception to the odd thing here and there, but you haven't really been defending the appointments, the Muslim ban, the attempt to repeal Obamacare (at the moment when there isn't traction for a replacement), the impulsive behavior, the legal questions, etc. It seems like the internet is really riled up.
I'm wondering if you are starting to have some doubts in Trump's capabilities and your choice to vote for him (if applicable)?
I know there are many other reasons it might seem different this time, but the Iraq war-esque passion definitely seems lacking?
He still hasn't made that supreme court nomination, and we know they'll let him tap-dance across the constitution willy-nilly as long as he nominates someone anti-choice.

Honestly, the last time I voiced concern over something Trump said in the PWL, I got jumped on by someone who called me a Trump defender. I'm not even sure if they read my post — I guess they assumed conservative = punching bag regardless of what they actually say, so I determined to limit my comments here.
1. Am I concerned about the appointments? Some.
2. Am I concerned about repealing Obamacare without a replacement? Yep.
3. Am I concerned that the immigration ban is overreaching? Yep.
4. Did I vote for Trump? I didn't even tell my wife who I voted for.
5. Am I convinced that the mass protests are doing more harm than good for their movement? Also yep.
For every protestor screaming, "Nooooooo!" and/or banging on a congo drum in the streets, there are fifty more people watching the news at home asking, "What are those idiots doing now?" If they keep the intensity ratcheted this high, they need to get used to the idea of a second-term Trump administration.
I totally understand wanting a leader to shake things up and change stuff, I was hoping for that too. I can understand how Hillary's baggage seemed negative, but there is also something to be said for plain old boring competency too.
I'm not convinced that Trump is competent and capable of doing the job. If I'm right we are about to see what that will mean.

Annoying sure, but your post implies they got the opposition party elected.
We're past what got the opposition party elected and onto what will get them reelected.
The Democrats are angry right now. Like, really angry.
For me personally? This triggers an avoidance response.
That response isn't intended to punish the Democrats. I honestly wish I could be more constructive about it. I likewise don't begrudge the Democrats' anger, I just can't do anything with it.
Because McCain would label the nominees "racist, xenophobic, homophobic, sexist, misogynistic, Islamophobic, patriarchal bigots?" (and eaters of live puppies)

The Left aren't accustomed to Presidents keeping their campaign promises. Hell, did Obama keep even 1/10th of his? To be fair, neither party has been good about that, because every one of them only cared about their "legacy" and how they were perceived. Now we have a guy (admittedly an asshole) who is determined to make good on what he said he would do, but since he's on the opposite side of the most outspoken of Americans, there's quite a flap over it.

He moved that up a day to try to detract from all the nomination hearings. So Chongo, now that you have your supreme court nominee, are you willing to open your eyes to the other crap Trump has pulled, or is that enough to buy your continued silence? Are you in the right tax bracket to get your 30 pieces of silver?
I don't know any Tea Partiers, while I know a bunch of Democrats.
The Tea Party had little effect on me beyond being a curiosity. In contrast, I've felt my only option in the current circumstance is to avoid discussing politics IRL, altogether.
This is a whole lot more like my SO has blown a gasket. The Tea Party thing was some other couple.

You have that all mixed up, that was the Obama administration with "clean" energy devs (and Hollywood).

You spoke broadly that protests would get the opposition reelected. Unless you have more votes than I think.
BTW, if you're voting based on protests and not policies, IDK what to do with you

More like 75% of 533 different campaign promises actually. So there you go ...
Location: Iowa, how long can this be? Does it really ruin the left column spacing?

Isn't that view a least a little bit attributable to your bubble?
Of course most of the views you're exposed to are not in support of the protesters. But do you really believe that out of 324,000,000 Americans, 317,000,000 believe the protesters to be idiots?
You made a point of calling out protesters screaming or banging congo drums. Do you believe that those two qualities accurately represent the majority of the protesters? What about the well-spoken, well-intentioned, very reasonable marchers that have very well-founded concerns about what this election and the presidency so far means for human rights, equality, and respect for the dignity of all people?
The way you phrased that statement makes it seem like you're discounting the valid concerns of the protesters and are trying to focus on a minority of easy targets, taking advantage of a negative stereotype.
Given your pro-life stance, it's understandable why you'd feel less than supportive of the protesters and marchers as abortion was a very hot topic, but do you at least recognize that more than one issue is at play?
Take yourself back to 1963. Would you look at the marchers and protesters and say, "What are those idiots doing now?"
I ask you these questions not to pick on you, but because you're literally the only conservative voice left here that I feel is capable of having a real, honest conversation without regressing into catchphrases, name-calling, and personal attacks. That's why I was so surprised to see you discount the protesters and refer (at least in a roundabout way) to them as "idiots."

I gave this some thought. Would you say you're suffering from voter apathy? That you're tired of politics?
The radical Left doesn't like anyone who isn't one of them.

Well, regardless of whoever you think the radical left is, I like Jawbone. He seems reasonable. He builds a swell minecraft fort.
Most of us regardless of party are weary of the flood of information and back and forth and who can believe who, sure. So I get Jawbone's point. He's not like those screaming "KILLARY LOST SIT DOWN SHUT UP OR GET OUT, SNOWFLAKE." Do protests do anything? Depends on how they are received. The women's march I think was successful. In spite of the record crowds, no crime. The kids at berkeley who accidently broke a lamp and set fire? argh, not helping.
The news cycle is exhausting, because unlike on the past, news is not limited to 6pm and 11pm. It's inundating. Protests can seem meaningless, but for those who take part, full of meaning. How else to show displeasure, to a president who surrounds himself with yes-men and deludes himself as to his own grandeur? You protest in the hopes of letting other people know. Other citizens, other representatives. Protests and phone calls is all we got. Letters to the editor are passe.
To the topic, are you just enjoying watching the world burn, or is any of Trump's actions offensive/badly planned/unconstitutional to you? Do you have a fallout bunker?
I'm dismayed watching kooks on the Left act like the sky is falling, mostly due to the MSM doubling-down on the BS and preying upon fears and insecurities. The only thing they're doing is amping up middle America's resistance, insuring the election of more conservatives.

The promises themselves have been grossly abnormal and recklessly childish, both as empty campaign bluster and as literal policy proposals. Before the election, Trump supporters could too-easily dismiss the unsavory components of his chatter, the same way you just did, believing it was all symbolic and that he wouldn't be stupid enough to try to really do it. People objected six months ago and it was dismissed as campaign-style hyperbole. People object now and you claim they should have believed in the campaign promises literally?
