What is Cersei isn't preggers and it's just menopause? Holy hell, she'll be pissed.

Yeah, I saw it too. (My network guy showed up with a really nice 1080p grab.)
No spoilers here, but... whoa. The problem is, we're having another GoT dinner party (we have those on the 1st, next-to-last, and last episodes of a season) and I already know what's gonna happen. Which sucks.

I hadn't noticed this before. The similarities are scary AF.

Anyone who's played Warcraft should not have been surprised by tonight's episode *at all*. It was a complete ripoff of the Wrath of the Lich King Cinematic
1) Did no one tell Jon to make arrows out of dragonstone? Or just bring regular flaming arrows? No need to wait on the stone outcrop for the hordes to come to you, idiots.
2) Did no one think to keep breaking the ice overnight, maybe with that giant hammer, so it wouldn't refreeze?
3) some kind of cage for that undead guy you are hauling to king's landing, so like you won't get infected?
4) Dany, maybe your dragons could use some armor, and also, target the undead generals. Poor undead dragon.
5) Sansa and Arya, get your act together. I was really hoping they were colluding to fool Littlefinger, but Sansa insists on trusting him and being STUPID.
1. To carry enough arrows to really matter they'd need a wagon full, and after hitting the first WW they'd use their troops as shields, or simply back up out of range. They're as smart as people, unlike the wights who follow them.
2. That's a lot of hard work, it was a huge area, at a time when energy and calories are at a premium (in the extreme cold). They were nearly spent after the brief run and fight to get to the island.
3. There's been no indication on the show that you can be turned into an undead through a bite or scratch.
4. She's really the only one who could get close enough to put armor on them and she's not strong enough to do that on her own, the plates would weight 100s of kilos each. It was a huge deal that Tyrion could get close enough to quickly loose their chains and not get killed, much less work with them for hours to fit them for armor.
5. Yeah, Sansa is being stupid, if she thinks that she can take out Arya she's out of her damned mind.

It seems that both of Arya and Sansa could stand to have a detailed conversation, even off screen, rather than play the Game of "I had it unspecifically worse off than you." And yes, Sansa, send away someone who would protect you.
I am rooting for Tormund to survive to woo Brianne. Some needed light humor there.
Nevermind Sansa being stupid, the writers turned Arya into a stupid stuck-up little bitch. (Sansa's counsel role is also door-mat-like but Arya sought out manipulation from "no one.") How can she be so damn STUPID to turn against Sansa and instead accept that she really was forced to write the letter?
S7E6 was the worst episode I thought. The characters' emotions seemed in-genuine, if they even existed at all. A few guys are going to catch one of the undead knowing that the army is some 10k? Gimme a break. Then they survive sleeping overnight in extreme cold and without camping gear like it's nothing?! Heck, who needs a bunk bed anymore, is winter not that cold anymore? And who the hell was that Uncle who came out of the undead to help Jon (after he somehow already survived a plunge into freezing temp water), and how did the undead never notice the dude before? Why sacrifice Jon then and there? Speaking of then and there, anyone else getting frustrated with help arriving on the scene a little too late? Stannis is dead, but who knows maybe there will be a big spell to end S7. Then again, Seasons 3 and 4, and much of 5, in my opinion, dragged on forever, and too many names to remember, so I only just got caught up from S1E1 last month. This all just seemed like too much of a forced plot with illogical directing. Even Cersei's role seemed dumbed down after Season 6.
But anyway, my biggest beef is how F***ING STUPID they made Arya. *shrug* Perhaps Brienne of Tarth can see the letter and respond to it by showing Arya the kind of logic that she SHOULD have demonstrated.
Suit yourself, I thought it was a brilliant episode. Sansa deserves all of Arya's ire, every bit of it. You don't turn on your family, and Arya endured all her suffering to gain the skill to exact her revenge for, what she thought, was the extermination of them all. Also, Arya is closer to Jon than anyone else, he was the only person (aside from her father) to take her desire to learn how to defend herself seriously (even going as far as to have Needle made for her), and Arya is sensing that Sansa's loyalty to him is wavering. In her mind, how can she trust someone who would sell out their own family?

Ayra is a youngish girl who has been trained as an assassin and killed a bunch of folk. I think it's a bit much to expect all her interactions to be normal and rational.
So, if you were forced to write a letter saying that your dad was a traitor with the premise that refusal could mean your outcast as a traitor likewise (at best) or publicly decapitated (at worst), would you refuse
Yes, I'd refuse. But this is a TV show, so let's not get personal about this, please?

There is also the case that knowing the sacrifice would be for nothing, it would be better to live to fight another day. To wait and learn. I don't find fault with that approach. Nobly casting herself to the lions would have gotten Sansa and her family no where.
BTW, if you want a great exposé on each episode, I strongly recommend this YT channel. He does a complete breakdown of every episode, start to finish, including a lot of "Easter eggs" that you may miss, as well as some excellent commentary and comparisons with the books.

There's no indication they would have done anything to her, she was still far more valuable to them alive rather than dead. Also, you're looking at this through your own eyes and not placing yourself in the shoes of someone from The North. What she did was horribly treacherous, one of the worst betrayals possible, and that's why she's presently freaking out. She knows that Lyanna Mormont and company will tear her apart, figuratively if perhaps not literally, if they find out, and with very good reason (from their perspective).

Does anyone get why they chose to re-surrect Uncle Benjen for just one more scene instead of letting John escape with the others? That was a weird detour, and they could have used that time for other things.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
I heard someone referring to him by a different name. Cold hands or something like that. I feel like there is something special or different about him. Perhaps that becomes relevant later?

Benjen did have a relation with the Children of the Forest, they seemingly rescued him and gave him his new weapon (that sets white walkers on fire). I found it weird that he injected into the story as a deus ex machina and then to just seemingly kill him off. Perhaps there is an ulterior motive, but if it made at least this bit stand out as being superfluous.

All the Benjen appearances, draw your own conclusions.

Location: Iowa, how long can this be? Does it really ruin the left column spacing?

Well, this was the episode of "saved at the last possible second."
Between stabbing the undead bear, Tormund getting dragged out of the water by the Hound, Uncle Benji, a bunch more during the fighting, and of course I was able to wave my arm through the air exactly when I knew the dragons were going to sweep through to the rescue.
How many times in a single episode can you use the same gag?
And does an undead dragon still spit fire, the thing that kills the undead?
I added to title, but I think it's nice to still use tags for the current season.
Speaking of, rereading the thread, sudden realizations...
Earlier in thread we spoke of needing 3 targaryans to ride 3 dragons... I guess we don't need 3 any more? Or do they need a targaryan to ride the ice dragon?
Where the hell is ghost? is he the last living direwolf except Arya's who's gone feral?
Ghost ran off to join Nymeria's pack (at least on the show) and be the co-lead, that's my theory. Jon still "feels" him out in the wild, though, so he just lets him run free.
Nah, it's just Jon and Dany on the show, now, for the living, I'm sure the Night King will ride Viserion, which is kind of fitting, given his namesake was a cold, heartless prick.

Are we going to see any real action tomorrow? Typically GoT blows its load for the season in the penultimate episode and we had the glorious episode 4 this year as well so we already got a double portion in a way. From the promo I'm thinking they will take their time setting things up on knife edges ready to knock people over and cut them to ribbons throughout season 8.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....
* Things are moving fast now, but they're clearly off the script, because it is getting stupider in spots. I agree about the "last second saves" in particular, and a lot of people are acting stupid.
* Forget about armor for the dragons, how about armor for Daenerys?
* I called it about what Sam would find in Oldtown, and then they missed the importance of it.
* The scenes with Sansa and Arya are slightly...off. I know the actresses are friends and have barely been in the same scene before, so maybe it is hard to act against your friend? Or maybe they're playing Littlefinger for a fool.
* Jon has been close to Drogon but for some reason never to any of the others. Are they not curious of him? Seems clear to me that they're delaying him riding Rhaegon for as long as possible.

I'm very glad that Sansa and Arya worked together. I was hoping, but it was touch and go there for a minute. For a second as Littlefinger gasped for air I thought Arya had just ripped out his voice box, so he couldn't say any more lies.
Bran, finally being useful!
I thought the ice dragon spat lightning? Also wondering why no one on the wall had FIRE ARROWS or a nifty megaxbow like cersei's.
I'm thinking Dragonglass arrowheads and spearsheads, Valyrian steel and lots and lots and lots of wildfire. D&J can drop wildfire grenades from dragonback, should be fairly effective if they can hit white walkers since each walker dropped takes down a raft of zombies.
Pity they didn't know about the Night Kings steed though, fighting from above him on the top of the wall would have been a hell of an opportunity.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....
That mega-crossbow is called a scorpion, which they actually mention in passing. It was a weapon from the Greeks, which the Romans used extensively.
I suspect that the only way to take down Vicerion® is by killing the white walker that raised it. A dragonglass arrowhead might not penetrate its armor.
Jon's name was also revealed to be Aegon, not Jaeherys as many guessed, which makes me think that the books will diverge from the series here. Rhaegar's son by Elia Martell was called Aegon, and it seems unlikely that he would have two sons by the same name.
I like how the Winterfell plot was wrapped up. (And can I say that I at least suspected it?)
Cersei is crazier than ever. I have to think that it is Jamie that will kill her now.
I really don't need to see a Theon redemption plot. That guy has had so many chances and there was nothing likable about him to begin with.

My g/f and I agree this season is more or less pure fanfiction. Still very entertaining, but I'm glad they're close to wrapping the series up.
I need Zombie Mountain vs The Hound and I needed it yesterday. That asshole has been a menacing figure for too long without really doing anything.
For a split second I thought we would see Jaime Vs The Mountain. The I thought it might be an execution rather than a fight. Guessing now he will join Tyrion and have to tell him Cersei isn't coming. Gotta think he won't betray her any further than that though.

Wasn't it the Night King Himself who raised the dragon? Kill him, do they all fall down? I guess maybe not all since the white walkers might be older than him?
I'd like to see Yara rescued. I suspect Theon will be thwarted at the last and she will die anyway. At least she might live to see him try.

I don't recall who raised the dragon. Perhaps it was the Night King, but I don't think killing him will kill the rest of them. I'm having a bit of a problem with this shift from humans as the enemy to inhuman monsters as the enemy. I suppose that they will either have to abandon a bigger chunk of the continent to them, or kill off all the White Walkers.
I wish Yara could rescue herself, and Theon go drown in a puddle somewhere. Enough with that guy's redemption arcs.
