So it appears to have 3 bundles: basic ($56), tricentennial ($79), and armor ($199).
As a gift, I'm leaning towards the tricentennial for the ingame unlocks. Unless someone can convince me the armor edition is indeed worth it? Glow in the dark map sounds cool. Would a helmet just sit on a shelf?
Reviews are mixed. We already have a Playstation Plus account (yes it's mostly a ripoff).

thank you! they don't seem to think the helmet is worth it. My teen probably wouldn't wear it, as he now doesn't even bother with halloween and doesn't cosplay.

It's getting a ton of bad press right now after a rocky BETA, by christmas I'm sure the game will have smoothed out.

From the rumblings in the trenches, not sure this purchase is going to wait until christmas.

Is the allure the online part or just the Falliut part and the online is something to suffer through for the experience of it?

I think both the fallout part, and being able to play with his friends. I hope platform doesn't matter.

I noticed that my nephew’s armor edition says “PC game”

He got the hand gesture wrong. Other than that, it looks pretty darned good. The smoke is a nice touch.

It appears to be on sale this weekend, $40 for basic, $50 for tricentennial. Well then.

Not looking good which explains the sale already...

Bethesda's gamble to reinvent the landscape of Fallout, if only for one game, is off to a historically poor start. Launching almost two weeks ago, Fallout 76 has just 29% of the active players that Fallout 4 had in the same timeframe, and with player reports of countless bugs, low review scores, and a holiday season once again bringing more games than anyone has time for, it may not be too soon to assume most potential players have already moved past the idea of giving much time to Fallout 76.

I mean, a Fallout game without NPCs is like a GTA game without cars. Kinda missing the point.

The kid says it's ok, as long as you have friends playing, but he sees what the reviews mean.

Trying to get their players to be the NPCs. Saves money on voice actors. Is there even built in voice chat?
