I thouhgt it might be cool to post a few LCD lights on my iMac keyboard. How would I go about doing this. Better yet, what about the mouse?

There are topics on how to do both already in this forum. They both have detailed instructions on how to what you're asking. May I suggest that you LOOK for them before posting?

Actually, LEDs would be a much better choice than LCDs....

Speaking of LCDs, does anyone know if you can buy electroluminecent material (IndiGlo)? If you could buy big sheets of that stuff and stick it between the plastic and metal walls of a G4, it would lood pretty cool.

They use very little power too. You could easily get all the power you need from the mac itself. Just throwing out ideas for anyone with spare time and money.

Never heard of that stuff! Let's say that I wanted to put one LED light on my mouse. How much Volatge should the LED be designed to run at?

Indiglo (aka EL backlighting) needs high voltage, so to power it u need a small high voltage transformer. This would
A) create a high pitch buzzing noise
B) ~possibly~ create radio interference
C) cost way too much

so its basically not useful in mods

There is a type of material thats like a plastic that glows when powered, but its not bright at all and its too hard to find... it is a possible use though.

Years ago, when I dabbled in electronics, these components were called "glow strips" the consisted of an inverter, and the electroluminescent material (strip). It was battery operated, and the inverter amplified the voltage. I used to get electronics surplus catalogs, which is where I bought it. Surely a carefully structured Sherlock search could pull tons of sites with them for sale.

Not a bad idea.
