I'm gonna go with Tron. MCP always reminds me of Bill Gates.
When you were young and your heart was an open book, you used to say "live and let live."
But if this ever changing world, in which we live in, makes you give in and cry, say "live and let die."

Oh, this ones easy, but most of you were still in diapers when it premiered in 1983."WAR GAMES...."

staring Matthew Broderick, and Aly Sheedy when she was attractive without that god awful short-haired vegan, GUANT look she insist upon keeping for what seems like years now. Unlike many films of this genre, this one is at least plausible, FUN, well scripted, and while dated, still very much holds it's own today. Rent it and enjoy.

From IMDB:
Max is a genius mathematician who's built a supercomputer at home that provides something that can be understood as a key for understanding all existence. Representatives both from a Hasidic cabalistic sect and high-powered Wall Street firm hear of that secret and attempt to seduce him.
Go rent it, its a beautiful movie...very well shot and directed.

Yes indeedy, Pi it is.

Max: Euclid crashed last night..
Sol: Your [heavygerman]mainframe[/heavygerman]?

Love it, love it, love it. Max uses an Apple Extended Keyboard (II, maybe) with the cover off on Euclid

Check out the clips: http://www.pithemovie.com/clips.html

If you loved Pi as a film, and you haven't seen Requiem for a Dream, go. Run now to your favorite rental place and get it.

Hard to deny lusting after Max's neighbor, too.. Whooo weee!!

I can't believe no one's mentioned Short Circuit (and its sequel). That's a really geeky movie.

nerd film? what makes a nerd film? most of these are just "good" film. a nerd film would have to be some sort of guilty pleasure id imagine.

I was thinking about The Forbin Project the other day, or to give its full title, Colossus: The Forbin Project. They haven't shown this film in ages. As kid I seem to remember it being shown at least once a year. Boy, I really want to see it again.

As for for my picks:
War Games (remember seeing it in the cinema as a kid hence a soft spot)
Sneakers (good mix between the tech stuff and good old fashion cinema. Turned out pretty well. Good fun)
Now that all that I've started thinking about these kinds of film I remembered another crappy 80's "nerd" film and can't seemed to get the damn awful title song out of my head!
Anyone else remember Electric Dreams
